History
After years of serving the homeless, Sue Oehmig answered God's call to start a new nonprofit ministry that would provide hope and restoration to homeless families. Hope Alive was born in August 2002 in response to the increasing, unmet, and complex needs of homeless women and children in the community.
The dream that began with one woman quickly grew to include a dedicated board of directors, hard-working volunteers, and generous supporters. An ambitious strategic plan was developed and, after a year-long search, Hope Alive purchased a 13-acre property with an existing home and barn. A three-year, $2.5-million capital campaign-"Opening the Door to Hope" -generated the funds needed for property acquisition, renovations, and initial operations. In December 2006, the first resident family walked through the doors of Hope Alive, warmly welcomed by our caring staff and volunteers. We have watched in awe as God's vision for Hope Alive has become a reality. Along the way, there have been many challenges and joys-with God's hand ever present. The blessings have been tremendous, and the journey continues to be life-changing for everyone who is part of Hope Alive.
Please consider how you can partner with us as we strive to transform our community and restore the lives of precious families with hope and a future.
