Anna's Story

"Just a few weeks after moving in, Anna was enrolled in college, had health insurance for her and her son, and was meeting with a Christian therapist."

The Econolodge was "home" to Anna and her 12-year-old son for seven days. With no more hotel vouchers from the Department of Social Services, Anna asked a family member to look after her son. She was going to sleep in the woods behind WalMart. Then someone mentioned Hope Alive. Just a few weeks after moving in, Anna was enrolled in college, had health insurance for her and her son, and was meeting with a Christian therapist. Within the last year, she completed two semesters of college with a 4.0 average, landed a part-time job, and resolved more than 1000 dollars of debt. Her son has addressed anger management issues and is doing better than ever in school. Together they are dealing with years of dental neglect-they had more than two dozen cavities between them. Anna has joined a local church and is a well-spoken advocate for Hope Alive and the homeless.
