Janet's Story

"Janet's confidence is improving in every area of her life-from academics to money management to parenting."

Janet was already more than a month behind on her rent. Then her employer cut her work schedule to eight hours per week. A high school dropout with minimal skills and experience, Janet had few opportunities to move forward in the workforce-until she came to Hope Alive. She is now working at her own pace with a partner agency to prepare for her GED test. After confessing that emailing was her only "computer skill," Janet completed a Microsoft Word course. Her confidence is improving in every area of her life-from academics to money management to parenting. Janet admits that she had never disciplined her school-aged child before coming to Hope Alive. Now she has completed a 12-week parenting course and has been mentored and encouraged by staff to set appropriate limits for her daughter, who has never been happier or more stable.
